DOS PICOS is sited in a public park nestled at the foothills of the rugged San Gabriel Mountains, once home for the indigenous Gabrielino people. Two oblique angular spires, built into a long-grass hillock adjacent to playgrounds, are hand-constructed using industrial gabions filled with local-quarried golden-hued stone. The artwork situates the viewer in an intimate visual, physical and personal relationship with mountain and meadow, with childhood, with cultural memory.
