"And Then . . . "  is a structurally translucent 18’ stainless steel feather gracefully balanced atop a 33’ tapered mast. Poised on the edge of a 34' high historic railway levee,  "And Then . . . " scrapes the sky at nearly 80'. Visible from the freeway, riverfront trails and the neighboring community, the sculpture marks the entrance to, and celebrates the transformation of a 19th century industrial rail line to 21st century civic greenway.

Months of structural feather microscopy research yielded a fusion of organic and expressive graphic studies that were laser cut into dual polished mirror and matte stainless steel, creating a form that generates an ever-changing interactive kaleidoscope of light and transparency. The sculpture's translucency and resiliency dances constantly with the ever-changing wind and light, and serves as a beacon and destination for hikers, visitors and residents.  "And Then . . ."  has become an iconic regional landmark — a timeless, permanent, optimistic symbol of radical hope embedded in the Sacramento landscape and skyline for generations to come. "And Then..." cracks a space of beauty, mystery and thoughtful meditation in the quotidian experience — the lightest touch, the most resonant strike.
