CHANDELIERS
“Hope is a thing of feathers…” features seven sculptural chandeliers of bamboo, brass, enamel, feathers and light. It is a temporary, site-specific installation at the artist’s original Venice home and studio (architect: Charles Ward). These works were first sparked as an exploration of collapse and migration (of species, peoples, atmospheres, geologies…). As the enforced privacy of global quarantine descended upon the world, this materiality and process became his singular studio practice, manifesting as intuitive and structural “drawings in space” that also occupy the territory of “chandelier”. They embody frailty and hope, chaos and control, construct and gesture, darkness and light, collapse and resilience.
